Artist Biography
Paradise Osorio is a mixed media artist. Her current work focuses on figurative abstraction and portraiture inspired by real time, life accounts and frustrations with the opposite sex. You could say she is a bit love struck at times and these portraits mark emotions felt in her life.
Previous works include: an Artist book based on her time interpreting Artist, Ai Weiwei's exhibition on Alcatraz Island, @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz and an artist sketchbook of illustrations and sketches, as part of The Sketchbook Project: a traveling exhibition of artist books by the Brooklyn Art Library, New York. Other collections include, a Mortality series where Osorio investigates the sensations of physical pain. Through personal reaction and understanding, a series of abstract forms visually express a familiar feeling of physical pain and discomfort.
A commodity in her works are her use of materials, which include graphite pencil, colored pencil, pastel, water color, acrylic paint, textiles, fabric and encaustic painting technique.
Osorio received her BFA in Studio Art from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California in 2008. She also holds a Master's of Arts in Museum Studies at San Francisco State University.
She currently works and resides in San Francisco, California.
